WallStreetBets reinstates cryptocurrency ban less than a day after lifting it

WallStreetBets, the Reddit forum known for its role in the GameStop stock price surge, reinstates a ban on all cryptocurrency discussion less than 24 hours after it allowed a crypto discussion thread with limits, CoinDesk reports. The subreddit allowed a daily crypto discussion thread limited to bitcoin (BTC-USD), ethereum (ETH-USD), and dogecoin (DOGE-USD) on Wednesday after Coinbase started trading through a direct listing. It kept in place a "crypto spam" ban, though. The ban on all crypto discussion was put back in place on Thursday, after Bloomberg ran a story saying WallStreetBets had bowed to the crypto wave.As a side note, dogecoin surges 50% to 18 cents in today's trading, which makes bitcoin look like its flat in the six-month view velow. In its first day of trading, Coinbase stock rose 30% during the regular trading session, but sputtered on its second day.
